Google launches ai-powered image editing tool for docs and slides
Google has officially launched its AI image design and editing tool, Google Pics, which is now available through the web interface at pics.new or directly within Google Docs and Slides. The tool was first introduced at the 2026 I/O Developer Conference in May and is powered by the Nano Banana image generation model. Users can generate images from prompts or edit existing files, with support for local files, Google Drive, and Google Photos. The tool allows for precise object segmentation, text editing, and real-time collaboration, with future updates enabling drag-and-drop file uploads from Google Drive.
Google Pics is available to personal users via Google AI Pro, Google AI Ultra, and Google AI Pro for Education accounts, while enterprise users will gain access through Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, and Enterprise Plus plans. The tool supports batch editing and image resolution enhancement up to 4K.
