Granola introduces dictation feature to challenge wispr in voice AI market
Granola, a voice AI app known for its meeting notetaking capabilities, has launched a dictation feature, marking a strategic shift in the competitive landscape. This move comes months after Wispr, a dictation-focused tool, introduced its meeting notetaker.
Granola’s dictation currently operates on Mac, allowing users to dictate text across all apps, with the final text cleaned and formatted. The feature is set to expand to iOS and Windows soon. Granola’s dictation is free and offers unlimited words, enhancing its appeal.
Meanwhile, Wispr, valued at $2 billion, is investing in building its own models through a research lab. The trend reflects a broader industry shift, with other voice startups like Fireflies, Speechify, and Monologue also integrating meeting notetaking and dictation features into their apps.
This convergence signals a move away from single-purpose tools toward multifunctional platforms that maximize user engagement with speech data.
