Guardrails alliance targets ai-backed candidates in midterm elections
Guardrails Alliance, a super PAC focused on promoting stricter AI regulations, has announced a $1.2 million campaign to oppose candidates supported by the AI industry. The group, known for mobilizing tech workers to regulate AI, is directing its efforts toward competitive districts as the 2026 midterms approach.
The funds will be used for digital and YouTube ads, as well as streaming TV campaigns. The Alliance is specifically targeting Republicans in two House races: Aaron Flint in Montana's 1st District and Jay Feely in Arizona's 1st District, according to an announcement shared with Axios.
Leading the Future, another organization advocating for federal regulation, has raised over $140 million. The move underscores the growing political influence of AI industry-backed candidates in the lead-up to the midterms.
