Huawei and east china normal university develop leading time series model

On October 11, 2026, Huawei Cloud announced that its joint team with East China Normal University has developed a time series pre-training model that has topped two international benchmarks: TIME-leaderboard and GIFT-Eval (Pretrained category). The model, named Seven Stars, represents a significant breakthrough in the field of time series foundational models. The model is designed for applications in weather forecasting, energy management, industrial maintenance, and financial analysis. It is optimized for high accuracy, robustness, and adaptability, with support for low-cost fine-tuning to meet industry-specific needs. Huawei Cloud emphasized that the achievement marks China's entry into the global first tier of time series foundational models, achieving a leap from catching up to leading. According to Huawei Cloud, the Seven Stars model can be directly applied to zero-shot time series prediction tasks, including grid load forecasting, industrial equipment anomaly detection, and financial trend analysis. The model also ensures high autonomy in intellectual property and efficient computational use.
