At the Huawei Connect 2026 conference in Shanghai on September 17, Huawei's vice chairman and rotating chairman, Wang Tao, announced the release of the world's first super node using NPO technology, the Ascend 960 Super Node, set for launch in the third quarter of 2027. The Ascend 960 Super Node features a leading orthogonal architecture and full liquid cooling design, with 5500 Hi-ONE units replacing 48,000 800G optical modules, reducing power consumption by over 550 kW. It supports up to 4096 cards, achieving 8EFLOPS FP8 and 16EFLOPS FP4 performance. The system offers a 99.8% availability rate, with double the fault-free runtime, and is designed to accelerate the training and inference of cutting-edge models. Huawei also introduced an upgraded Kunpeng super node with a unified memory pool of 256TB, supporting up to 4096 nodes. Additionally, the OceanStor M900 cluster was unveiled, offering a PB-level KV cache solution with 'one-hop direct connection' capabilities.
