Huawei's xu zijun claims ascend's market share in china surpasses nvidia
At the Huawei Connect 2026 conference on September 17, Huawei's rotating chairman Xu Zijun and HiSilicon chief scientist Liao Heng introduced the Ascend 950 and 950 Super Node. Xu emphasized that the Super Node's key innovation lies in enabling thousands or even tens of thousands of processors to function as a single computer. The Ascend 950 Super Node is the first product of Huawei's Peerium architecture, which redefines computing by enabling seamless integration between CPUs, NPUs, memory, SSDs, network cards, and switches.
Xu stated that Huawei currently lacks sufficient domestic capacity to meet demand, so there are no plans for international expansion. However, a few countries show strong interest, with limited supply already being tested. Xu also noted that while collecting NVIDIA's market share data in China is challenging, Huawei's data suggests Ascend has surpassed NVIDIA in the Chinese market. Xu highlighted the necessity of self-reliance in chip technology, emphasizing that China's 1.4 billion population and industrial strength demand a secure supply chain, with Huawei committed to achieving full self-sufficiency in semiconductors.
