On October 5, Huawei disclosed a Q&A session during its September 17 full connection conference, where Chairman Xu Zijun and Dr. Liao Heng, chief scientist of HiSilicon, addressed media inquiries. Xu responded to a question about the U.S. leading AI firms' call to slow AI development, stating that China's AI models are mostly open-source and their progress is transparent, while U.S. firms have stronger computational power. He argued that China's market may feel less risk from AI, and thus Chinese providers need to accelerate to experience the risks, eventually aligning with U.S. perspectives. Xu emphasized the need to balance AI development with risk management. In September, a panic wave swept the AI industry after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's article called for coordinated control of frontier AI development. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Elon Musk supported the call, a rare consensus among rivals. However, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang opposed the idea, stating that AI safety and speed are not mutually exclusive. At the All-In Summit, Huang noted that in China, there is no discussion of an 'AI apocalypse,' with a more pragmatic narrative.
