Huawei's zhu zaosheng: ascendiant has surpassed the ecosystem turning point, ready to build a new AI ecosystem in the agentic era

On September 19, 2026, Huawei's Chief of Computing Strategy and Business Development, Zhu Zaosheng, stated that Ascendiant has crossed the ecosystem turning point and is fully capable of building a new AI ecosystem in the Agentic era. The Ascendiant CANN open-source community has over 5,200 monthly active users, becoming the most active in China since June 2026, with more non-Huawei developers than Huawei developers. Over 30,000 lines of code are merged daily. More than 40 large language and multimodal models have been trained on Ascendiant, making it the only domestic platform supporting pre-training AI compute. Huawei also announced that the Ascendiant 950 intelligent computing cluster cloud service will be commercially available in China on September 30 and globally on November 30. The Ascendiant 960 super node, unveiled at the 2026 Full Stack Connection Conference, is set for release in Q3 2027.
