Iceland's Treble secures $18 million to advance voice AI simulations

Iceland-based startup Treble has raised $18 million in Series A funding, bringing its total raise to over $40 million. Founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, the company focuses on creating a voice simulation platform for AI model makers, robotics firms, and consumer hardware developers. Treble’s synthetic data generation platform aids in speech enhancement, noise suppression, and model training, with partnerships including Hugging Face for benchmarking speech recognition models. Pind emphasized that accurate physics simulation can provide an alternative to internet-sourced data for sound-related AI. Treble also works with headphone and speaker companies for virtual prototyping and is expanding into smart glasses and AI device testing. The startup aims to enhance hearing capabilities in challenging environments, such as restaurants or seminars, through next-generation wearables. Francois Ruether of Paladin Capital Group highlighted Treble’s platform as critical for voice AI, wearables, robotics, and physical AI, noting its value as products increasingly rely on sound understanding.
