Intel and Broadcom ceos warn of funding shortages as major hurdle for AI growth
On October 12, 2026, Intel CEO Dr. Liu Liwu and Broadcom CEO Dr. Chen Fuyang warned that funding shortages could become the biggest obstacle to AI development. Both executives highlighted that while demand for computing infrastructure continues to outpace supply, financial constraints are increasingly limiting AI expansion. Dr.
Chen Fuyang noted that fundraising is more challenging compared to semiconductor, storage, and power infrastructure investments. Intel’s Dr. Liu Liwu echoed these concerns, stating that AI costs are rising and companies remain uncertain about the return on their substantial investments.
The executives emphasized that despite these challenges, AI demand for computing infrastructure is expected to remain strong in the short term. Dr. Chen Fuyang predicted that the supply-demand imbalance could persist until 2029 or even 2030. Dr.
Liu Liwu added that the industry is unlikely to see a slowdown in the next two to three years due to the growing adoption of AI and increasing demand for computational power.
