Intel warns of pc market slowdown amid AI shift

Intel issued a warning to investors about the declining personal computer market, attributing the slowdown to the rise of AI. AI is increasing PC prices and competing for IT budgets, prompting an industry-wide reevaluation of the future of personal computers. In an AI-driven world, PCs could evolve into devices that perform tasks autonomously through AI agents capable of navigating software, analyzing data, and completing work without human intervention. This vision was echoed during Intel's earnings call on Thursday. PC sales are currently declining rapidly, leading to significant stock drops. Intel's stock fell over 28% on Friday, while Dell, HP, and Lenovo saw declines of 10.7%, 9.6%, and 7.4%, respectively. Stacy Rasgon of Bernstein noted, 'Before you get to the future, you have to live through the present.'
