Jd logistics plans to deploy 3 million robots and build global maintenance network
At the JD Global Technology Explorer Conference on September 9, 2026, JD Logistics announced plans to purchase 3 million robots, 1 million unmanned vehicles, and 100,000 drones within five years, aiming to advance full automation across its logistics operations. The company also plans to establish the world's largest robot maintenance network, covering over 100 countries by 2031 and creating more than 100,000 service engineer jobs.
JD Retail pledged to invest 100 billion yuan by 2028 to help 100 brands achieve over 1 billion yuan in sales, expanding robot usage into millions of end-user scenarios. Meanwhile, JD Group's founder Liu Qiangdong revealed the 'Phoenix Plan' at the 2026 APEC Business Leaders' Summit, aiming to retrain 700,000 blue-collar workers into technical roles to adapt to AI-driven changes.
JD Logistics has already begun training programs, with the first batch of employees transitioning to robot maintenance engineers, now officially employed in new roles. Liu emphasized that these workers will be relocated to office environments, reducing their exposure to harsh working conditions.
