Legato launches ai-powered hearing glasses for enhanced auditory experience
Hearing tech startup Legato has launched its AI-based hearing glasses, Legato Frames, which are now available for purchase. Priced starting at $999, the glasses are designed for adults with up to moderate hearing loss and integrate patented hearing-assistance technology into eyewear frames. The product aims to make hearing care more accessible by addressing cost, comfort, and stigma associated with traditional hearing aids.
Unlike conventional hearing aids, Legato Frames use AI to distinguish voices from background noise, amplifying speech while reducing unwanted sounds. The glasses feature an open-ear design with a dual-speaker system that directs sound toward the wearer, canceling sound that escapes and reducing it by 99% just a few inches away from the ear. All processing occurs directly on the glasses, with no cameras or recording. The glasses weigh 34 grams and offer 10-12 hours of battery life, available in three styles and supporting prescription lenses and Bluetooth streaming.
Legato, founded in 2024 by Mehul Trivedi and Steve Romine, emerged from stealth with $12 million in funding from Neotribe Ventures, Listen, and Village Global. The startup’s founders bring extensive experience in wearables and hearing care from Bose and other industry leaders. Legato Frames can be purchased on the startup’s website or through select eye care providers in the U.S., where they are eligible for vision insurance coverage.
