Lg innotek expands autonomous driving data collection with new fleet

LG Innotek, a South Korean sensor technology company, has announced plans to deploy a fleet of autonomous data collection vehicles in South Korea, in partnership with Applied Intuition, an autonomous software firm. The initiative, set to begin in Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province, aims to operate 20 data collection and software development vehicles by 2028. These vehicles will also be deployed in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. This marks a rare move for a sensor solutions provider to directly manage a fleet for data gathering. The vehicles will be equipped with LG Innotek’s cameras, radar, and lidar systems. The company plans to use the collected data in conjunction with digital twin environments to enhance sensor performance and validate system effectiveness. LG Innotek will also focus on sensor fusion and extreme scenarios while ensuring data privacy. The company’s strategy highlights its commitment to advancing autonomous driving technology through real-world data collection and analysis, positioning itself for broader market expansion.
