LinkedIn has reported a significant decline in the views of AI-generated posts since the introduction of the 'Looks Like AI' button. According to the platform, the number of views for content identified as AI-generated has dropped by 40% compared to a few weeks ago. Hari Srinivasan, LinkedIn's Chief Product Officer, highlighted that the feature, launched on July 30, has received over 1 million clicks from users who suspect a post or comment may be AI-generated. Srinivasan emphasized that the platform prefers user feedback over automated detection systems to ensure authenticity. He stated that LinkedIn now highlights posts with significant community feedback in the 'Post Analytics' section, providing users with insights into how others perceive their content. Additionally, LinkedIn has implemented safeguards to prevent unfair or targeted reporting. Srinivasan noted that the goal is to offer helpful feedback and encourage users to avoid making content sound like AI-generated content. As AI tools such as Claude and ChatGPT become more prevalent, other platforms like Substack and YouTube are also tightening their policies on AI-generated content. Recently, Business Insider's Katie Notopoulos tested the Cringebot 3000 AI tool, which mimics the style of LinkedIn's 'thought leader' posts. She found that AI-generated content often received more views than her own posts. With LinkedIn's latest updates, such low-quality AI-generated content may reach fewer users and prompt more user feedback.
