Lowe’s leverages OpenAI to enhance home improvement support for customers and associates
Lowe’s has integrated OpenAI’s models into its AI assistants, Mylow and Mylow Companion, to provide expert guidance for home improvement projects. Since launching in Spring 2025, these tools have addressed millions of questions from both customers and associates. Mylow Companion, available to 300,000 associates across 1,700 stores, enables associates to offer project-specific advice through voice and text, with nearly half of interactions occurring via voice. Seemantini Godbole, Lowe’s Chief Information and AI Officer, emphasized the shift from product-centric to project-centric support, enhancing customer confidence and associate efficiency.
Mylow, the consumer-facing tool, helps users plan projects online by understanding intent and offering step-by-step guidance, product recommendations, and how-to content. According to Lowe’s Q2 2026 earnings call, Mylow users convert at three times the rate of non-users. Joe Cano, SVP of Digital Commerce, noted that customer expectations for fast, expert answers have evolved since 2023, driven by ChatGPT. Lowe’s has also expanded Mylow Companion to support natural voice interaction and adopted ChatGPT Enterprise for its Store Support Center, further integrating OpenAI into its operations.
