Majority of americans doubt AI companies' ability to prevent disasters

While 55% of respondents support slowing AI growth, 13% oppose it. Meanwhile, investments in data centers are boosting the economy, though they have caused noise complaints and political pressure ahead of the November 3 midterms. Most Americans prioritize AI safety over global competitiveness, with 73% favoring responsible development over leading the world in AI.
