Meta introduces AI tools to simplify WhatsApp business setup

Meta has launched new AI-powered tools to streamline the setup and management of WhatsApp Business accounts for companies. The update, announced on Tuesday, allows businesses to use AI agents like Claude, Cursor, Codex, or ChatGPT to handle tasks such as creating accounts, verifying phone numbers, and registering for the Cloud API. This is facilitated by the WhatsApp Business Tools MCP, a Model Context Protocol server that connects AI agents to the WhatsApp Business Platform. The move expands Meta’s MCP servers beyond ad management and app configuration to specifically support business onboarding. Other companies like PayPal, Stripe, and GitHub also offer similar MCP servers. Businesses can now use AI to create and edit messaging templates, test messages, and monitor compliance with Terms of Service and payment methods. Meta’s Social Technologies MCP can also assist with API discovery and troubleshooting during setup.
