Meta introduces non-voting stock to fuel AI expansion
Meta has announced the creation of a new class of non-voting stock to support its aggressive AI initiatives. During its third-quarter earnings report on October 22, 2026, the company confirmed plans to issue these shares as a stock dividend to existing shareholders. CFO Susan Li explained that the new class of shares is intended for capital raising, employee compensation, acquisitions, and other corporate purposes, while preserving the voting rights of current Class A and B shareholders. The move aims to maintain Meta’s founder-led structure and provide flexibility to invest in AI-driven growth.
Meta’s AI push has gained momentum, with recent product launches including Muse Wonder and Muse Spark Open, an open-weight model. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted strong user adoption, noting over 10 million users in the U.S. and Canada had set up personal agents within a month and a half. The company also faces ongoing regulatory challenges, particularly regarding youth-related issues in several markets.
