Meta launches ai-powered game creation app pocket in the U.S.

Meta has launched its experimental game creation app, Pocket, in the United States, following its earlier rollout in Brazil. The app allows users to generate small, interactive games using AI prompts, which are then published to a scrollable feed. These games, referred to by Meta as 'gizmos,' can respond to touch and phone tilt, play sound effects, and include clips of favorite songs. They can also use photos from the user's camera roll or access the camera. Users can share these games on their profiles, where others can save, remix, or repost them. The app is part of Meta's broader strategy to mainstream AI creation tools, following previous efforts such as AI-generated images and AI videos. Pocket joins other recent standalone apps from Meta, including Instagram Instants, Forum, and Seller. CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the role of AI in accelerating software development, enabling faster testing and deployment of new ideas. Meta is also shutting down the original app, Gizmo, which it acquired earlier this year. The company acknowledged the bittersweet nature of the shutdown, expressing excitement for Pocket and future developments. Additionally, Meta has launched an AI app for Mac and is experimenting with AI bedtime stories.
