Meta offers significant discounts for users who share AI model data
Meta has introduced a data-sharing discount program for users of its new Muse Spark AI models, offering prices as low as 1.3-8% of the standard rate in exchange for sharing usage data. The program applies to Muse Spark 1.2 and 1.3, with discounted rates for input, cache hit, and output tokens. For example, the standard rate for input tokens is $1.25 per million, but contributors pay just $0.10 (8%). Similarly, cache hit tokens are discounted to $0.002 (1.3%) and output tokens to $0.20 (4.7%).
Meta has faced challenges in obtaining training data in the past, including a controversial internal monitoring initiative that was halted in June. The company’s approach contrasts with most AI tools that allow users to opt out of data sharing. This new policy highlights Meta’s strategy to leverage user data for model improvements while offering financial incentives to participants.
