Meta unveils Muse AI assistant with focus on superintelligence and shopping integration

At Meta Connect 2026, CEO Mark Zuckerberg and chief AI officer Alexandr Wang introduced Muse, an AI assistant designed to handle everyday tasks such as shopping, email responses, and computer work. Muse is positioned as an early step toward Meta’s vision of 'personal superintelligence,' with expansion to Canada and more countries planned. Powered by Muse Spark, the assistant can research, fill out forms, book travel, and continue tasks after the app is closed. Zuckerberg emphasized plans for free usage alongside paid subscriptions, while suggesting potential transaction fees in the future. Shopping was a key focus, with support for Stripe, Shopify’s Shop Pay, and PayPal, though Amazon has restricted Muse’s access. Privacy measures include Muse Secure VM, a dedicated cloud computer separate from the user’s device, requiring user approval for sensitive actions. Wang also showcased a personalized assistant featuring his dog, highlighting Meta’s effort to build trust through a friendly interface.
