Meta's AI app Muse gains momentum with strong download growth

Muse, Meta's AI app, has seen significant traction since its September 8 launch, with over 3.4 million downloads as of Thursday, according to Sensor Tower. The app's growth accelerated following Meta's promotion at its Connect conference, where new features like video chat and smart glasses integration were announced. Muse reached the top of both the U.S. App Store and Google Play Store by early September. Sensor Tower reported a 27% increase in daily active users after the conference. While much of the growth is organic, Meta's cross-platform marketing, similar to its Threads app, is also contributing. Connor Hayes, Meta's Head of Threads, noted that Muse's promotional strategy focuses on showcasing AI capabilities tailored to user needs. Meta began advertising Muse on September 9, with the app ranking among the top 10 brands by ad spend by September 22. Despite Meta's efforts, ads account for only 6% of ad impressions, highlighting the app's strong organic growth. Muse's download growth has been impressive, with an average of 55% day-over-day growth in its first two weeks, outperforming ChatGPT's early growth. Apptopia estimates Muse has 4.3 million downloads, while Appfigures reports around 2.3 million. The app is currently available only in the U.S. and Canada. Sensor Tower's data shows Muse's popularity is rising, with continued strong performance in app store rankings and user engagement.
