Meta's AI app Muse surpasses 10 million U.S. downloads in 40 days, joining exclusive club
Meta’s AI companion, Muse, has surpassed 10 million U.S. downloads within its first 40 days on the market, placing it among just 12 apps to achieve this milestone, according to Sensor Tower data. Muse reached 10.9 million downloads since its September launch, with 10.2 million in the U.S. Sensor Tower’s Kara Lee noted that only 11 other apps have matched this scale, with Meta’s Threads from July 2023 being the most recent. Muse benefits from Meta’s marketing across its platforms, including 3.6 billion daily active users, and has seen a 39% allocation of advertising spend in October.
Muse also achieved a 15% week-over-week increase in daily active users, reaching 2.5 million on October 16. It retains users better than competitors like ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok, with 30% and 23% retention rates after 7 and 14 days, respectively. Globally, ChatGPT outperformed Muse with 15 million downloads, but Muse is currently limited to the U.S. and Canada. Muse remains the top app in the U.S. App Store and Google Play, with only a brief dip in rankings.
