Meta has unveiled its new AI agent, Project Hatch, which is designed to assist users with a wide range of tasks, from booking restaurants to managing personal finances. According to an internal memo shared with Business Insider, Hatch is positioned as a personal assistant capable of performing any online task, including filling out forms, purchasing items, and conducting deep research. The memo highlights its ability to connect directly to apps like email, calendar, Spotify, Instagram, and OpenTable, with a strong emphasis on personalization, allowing users to name, shape, and customize their agent. The agent, which is already being tested by Meta employees outside its Superintelligence Labs group, is part of a growing trend of generalist AI assistants, with competitors like Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic also developing similar tools. While Meta has not disclosed pricing or a launch date, The Information previously reported that a launch in the next few weeks is planned, with potential monthly fees up to $200. A product manager shared that their personal Hatch agent, named Veda, has already helped with tasks such as finding a dog sitter and changing sleep habits. Mark Zuckerberg has previously advocated for personal AI assistants for everyone, aligning with Meta's vision for Hatch.
