Microsoft removes 'microslop' filter from Copilot discord channel after 6 months

Microsoft has removed the automatic filter for the term 'Microslop' from its Copilot Discord service channel, approximately six months after initially blocking it. The change comes after a surge in discussions about the term, which began in late 2025 and early 2026, driven by user frustration with Microsoft's aggressive Copilot deployment strategy. The filter was first implemented in March 2026, prompting users to attempt to bypass it using alternative terms. As of now, over 200 entries containing the term have been found in the channel. Windows executive Pavan Davuluri, who spoke on March 20, 2026, emphasized a more cautious approach to integrating Copilot into Windows, including reducing its presence in applications like the screenshot tool, Photos, Widgets, and Notepad. Additionally, Microsoft stopped automatically installing the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on Windows 11 in March 2026, while retaining some AI features.
