Musk's legal battle with Apple ends as OpenAI faces antitrust challenges
Elon Musk has seemingly concluded his legal dispute with Apple regarding the integration of ChatGPT into iPhone features. In 2024, Musk criticized the integration, calling it an agreement allowing OpenAI to install 'creepy spyware' on users' devices.
The following year, he filed a lawsuit, alleging the partnership created a 'monopoly' on Apple users' AI prompts, harming competition in both smartphone and chatbot markets. Musk's conflict with Apple intensified when he claimed Grok, his chatbot, was being blocked from reaching the top of Apple’s App Store rankings.
Last August, he accused Apple of engaging in antitrust behavior by preventing AI companies other than OpenAI from achieving the #1 ranking. The resolution of Musk's case with Apple leaves OpenAI to continue facing antitrust lawsuits.
