Napster returns with ai-driven education initiatives
Napster, the once-controversial music-sharing platform, is rebranding as an AI-focused company with a new focus on education. In Dubai, it has partnered with Gems Education to develop AI agents and digital personas for classrooms. The company, now owned by Infinite Reality since 2025, has shifted from music streaming to AI technology, with its regional CEO Samuel Huber leading the initiative. Huber emphasizes the platform's mission to empower users, challenging big AI companies by offering an alternative. The project includes digital twins of teachers, gamified learning, and AI-assisted content creation, with the first phase based at the Gems School of Research and Innovation.
Napster is also investing in local AI infrastructure, partnering with G42 in the UAE and Lenovo in Saudi Arabia to ensure data sovereignty. The company plans to expand its regional team to 500 by 2030. Huber argues that AI should augment, not replace, educators, allowing teachers to scale their impact while maintaining human interaction. The UAE's push for agentic AI, including a federal framework approved in May, is a key driver for Napster's expansion in the region.
