This week, the autumn semester began nationwide, with new curriculum adjustments for primary and secondary schools taking effect. The revised Chinese, Mathematics, and English textbooks, which were piloted starting in the autumn of 2024, are now fully implemented across all primary and junior high schools. Education experts noted that the number of texts in primary school Chinese has decreased compared to the previous version. In mathematics, simple equations originally scheduled for upper elementary grades have been moved to junior high, with practical content like ruler and compass drawing added in elementary schools. The total vocabulary for English has changed slightly, without increasing memorization burden. The new textbooks are structured to align with students' cognitive development, slowing the pace of knowledge introduction to improve quality and reduce workload. According to the teaching research team, the overall difficulty of the new textbooks is balanced with the old version, with no sudden increase in difficulty.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and other departments issued the 'Artificial Intelligence + Education Action Plan,' emphasizing literacy. AI education has begun large-scale integration into classrooms alongside textbook adjustments.
