Accel closes oversubscribed $550 million India fund
Venture capital firm Accel successfully closed a new $550 million fund focused on India less than two years after raising its previous India-dedicated fund. The new fund was heavily oversubscribed and closed within weeks. Accel still has more than 55% of its previous $650 million fund available for investment, yet this new raise demonstrates continued confidence in India's startup ecosystem. The firm believes India's next wave of startups will be driven not only by artificial intelligence but also by consumer internet, fintech, and advanced manufacturing. Accel views AI as a horizontal technology underpinning each of these sectors rather than as a standalone investment category. The company expects to begin deploying capital from the new fund in 2027.
