AI Giants Standardize Agent Plugins With New Open Specification

Vercel, Amazon, Cursor, Microsoft and OpenAI collaborated to create Agent Plugins 1.0, an open specification that standardizes how AI agent skills and tools should be structured. The format, adopted by the Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation, enables developers to create functionalities once and reuse them across any compatible platform. The specification builds on existing protocols and is supported by VS Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT and other platforms. Version 1.0 deliberately keeps the scope limited, leaving room for future expansions.
