AI Investment Fund Situational Awareness Invests $400 Million in Chip Manufacturing Startup Source Foundry
The artificial intelligence investment fund, founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, completed a new $400 million investment in Source Foundry, bringing the total investment to $500 million. The startup, created by Stanford researchers, aims to make chip manufacturing faster and more cost-effective. The investment comes as the fund has faced significant losses in recent months, leading to the sale of most of its public portfolio to Ken Griffin's Citadel in July, though it retained its Anthropic shares.
