Anthropic announced that Claude Sonnet 5, launched in June 2026, will remain permanently at its promotional launch price. The 50% price increase scheduled for September 1st has been cancelled. The model maintains pricing of two dollars per million input tokens and ten dollars per million output tokens. Sonnet 5 features a context window of one million tokens and maximum output of 128,000 tokens, achieving performance comparable to the Opus model on various programming and agentic tasks. The decision provides cost stability for enterprises that have built workflows around this model.
