Anthropic makes Claude Code auto mode the default

Anthropic announced that Claude Code's auto mode will become the default setting for Pro, Max, and Team accounts starting August 14. In auto mode, the system proceeds with actions automatically unless they are deemed irreversible, destructive, or target outside the user's environment, eliminating per-step approval prompts. Company testing showed auto mode caught 89% of harmful actions compared to 13.6% for manual human review, with analysis suggesting users approve 97% of permission prompts habitually.
