Anthropic Secures $10 Billion Computing Deal with Cloud Startup Volta
Anthropic has agreed to a six-year, $10 billion cloud computing partnership with Volta, an AI infrastructure startup founded earlier this year. The arrangement includes Bitdeer, a cryptocurrency mining company, which will assist in developing a 133-megawatt data center facility in Norway to provide compute capacity for Anthropic's Claude model development. The facility will be powered by Nvidia's Vera Rubin GPU architecture, the company's latest high-performance AI chip systems. Volta participates in Nvidia's Cloud Partner Program, a consortium of cloud providers using Nvidia GPUs. The deal continues Anthropic's recent aggressive expansion of compute capacity, following recent partnerships with SpaceX and Amazon to secure infrastructure needed for large-scale AI model training and deployment.
