ByteDance creates new strategic-level department for AI data and security

ByteDance established a new strategic-level department focused on AI data and security, placing it at the same level as divisions like Seed and Flow. The department, led by Wang Yinglei, formerly responsible for TikTok livestream operations, integrates the Global Data team originally created in 2023. The new structure will be responsible for providing multimodal data services to all of ByteDance's large language models, covering the entire data production cycle: standards definition, source acquisition, synthetic cleaning, and quality evaluation.
