China's AI sector experiences rapid expansion in first half of 2026

China recorded accelerated growth in emerging technology sectors in the first half of 2026. Data from China's market regulation administration indicates that the generative artificial intelligence segment led the way with 55,000 newly established companies, an expansion of 28% compared to the same period last year. The humanoid robotics sector also expanded significantly, with 116,000 new companies registered, a 9.5% growth rate. In total, 561,000 new companies were established across nine future industries and eight emerging sectors during the period, reflecting China's accelerated investment in cutting-edge technologies such as quantum computing, brain-machine interfaces, and biological manufacturing.
