Chinese open-source AI models spark concern in the US, says expert

Li Kaifu, founder of 01.AI and president of Innovation Works, stated that open-source artificial intelligence models developed in China are raising concerns among American companies. According to him, the Kimi K3 model surpassed Claude Fable 5 in the global ranking with 1679 points, maintaining the top position, while offering comparable capabilities at a 60% lower price. Li Kaifu emphasized that increasingly American companies are adopting Chinese open-source products due to their capabilities and cost-effectiveness, sparking discussions about whether open-source models could harm the development of the proprietary US ecosystem.
