Cloudflare announced Kitesurf, a cloud-based browser built specifically for AI agents to navigate websites and complete browser-based tasks. Unlike traditional browsers, Kitesurf optimizes for AI's unique needs: managing context windows, token costs, and scalability while defending against prompt injection attacks. Developed in 12 weeks on Cloudflare's Workers serverless platform using Blitz's rendering engine, Firefox's Stylo CSS parser, and the Boa JS engine, Kitesurf achieves significantly better CPU and memory efficiency than Chromium for AI tasks like screenshots and HTML extraction. Now available in beta through Cloudflare's Browser Run service, the browser already passes over 215,000 web platform tests and correctly renders pages including Wikipedia, Hacker News, and the Cloudflare dashboard.
