Co-Scientist accelerates search for liver fibrosis treatments
Co-Scientist, a multi-agent AI system, assisted Stanford researcher Gary Peltz in identifying potential treatments for liver fibrosis. The system highlighted drug-repurposing candidates that were previously overlooked, including one compound that successfully blocked 91% of a scarring-linked response in laboratory tests. The findings, published in the journal Advanced Science, point toward new gene-regulating approaches for treating chronic liver disease. According to Peltz, Co-Scientist functions as a research collaborator with comprehensive knowledge of biomedical literature and reasoning capabilities that enable it to identify connections human researchers might miss.
