The Danish government announced new measures to combat the use of artificial intelligence in school fraud. Upper secondary school students aged 16 to 19 will be required to make an oral defense of their written essays as an evaluation requirement. Schools will be encouraged to conduct more written work in supervised school environments with screen monitoring, rather than homework assignments. Education Minister Magnus Heunicke stated that urgent action is needed against AI-driven academic fraud. Measures include mandatory installation of firewalls to filter content during exams and tests. The government is also preparing a comprehensive national strategy for AI use across education. In neighboring Sweden, studies show a 688% increase in the number of students suspended or warned for unauthorized AI use between 2023 and 2025.
