Google Maps introduces agentic AI features for food ordering, hotel booking, and personalized recommendations

Google announced new agentic capabilities for the Ask Maps feature in Google Maps, enabling users to order food, book hotels, and find event tickets directly within the app. The update also introduces Personal Intelligence, which allows Ask Maps to draw information from users' Gmail and Google Calendar to provide personalized recommendations. For example, users can ask for vegan restaurants near home and proceed to order through integrated platforms like Uber Eats, or search for hotels with specific characteristics for upcoming trips. Google also added a live transit widget that updates users on real-time delays and conditions, and conversation memory that allows users to reference previous trip planning queries. The features are rolling out to users in the United States and other markets where Ask Maps is available, with Personal Intelligence disabled by default for privacy.
