Google abruptly reversed its decision to introduce an artificial intelligence feature into Google Earth. The functionality had permitted users to synthesize computer-generated imagery and layer such content across the application's actual geographic data, ostensibly to encourage creative engagement with the platform. Journalists and researchers quickly raised alarms about the capability's potential to facilitate the creation and dissemination of false content.
