Google Reportedly Seeks AMD Partnership to Advance Tenth-Generation TPU Development
According to market reports disclosed in a leaked SemiAnalysis document, Google is allegedly in negotiations with AMD to collaborate on developing a tenth-generation TPU. If confirmed, it would be AMD's first custom artificial intelligence chip project. Analysts highlight that AMD possesses strong capabilities in advanced packaging and system-on-chip intellectual property portfolio. The joint strategy would focus on creating an integrated system that combines TPU and CPU in a single package, meeting processing demands for reinforcement learning applications. AMD's expertise in CPU design would be a significant advantage in this collaboration. Google's artificial intelligence chip division has already diversified its operations beyond a single processor, involving partnerships with manufacturers such as Broadcom and MediaTek.
