Huawei Completes Hardware Adaptation for Xiaohongshu's New Open-Source AI Model on Launch Day
Chinese platform Xiaohongshu launched a new open-source language model called dots3-note preview on August 14. Huawei announced that its Ascend Atlas 800 A3 and Atlas 900 A3 SuperPoD processors completed full adaptation to run the model on the same day of the announcement.
The dots3-note preview is the first version of the dots3 series, developed with 280 billion total parameters, of which 16 billion are activated during operation. The solution integrates multimodal comprehension of text, vision, and audio, optimized for reasoning tasks, autonomous agents, and multimodal perception.
To enhance performance, Huawei implemented technical optimizations through the vLLM Ascend framework. The FlashComm module reduces latency by eliminating redundant calculations between processors during synchronization. FUSED_MC2 technology consolidates multiple kernel operations into a single one, raising inference throughput. Speculative decoding with parallel generation of multiple tokens was also incorporated to reduce response time in high-concurrency scenarios.
The platform is expected to maintain stable performance while preserving all original multimodal capabilities of the model.
