Lumilens, optical chip startup for AI, launches with $900 million in funding

Lumilens, a company specialized in optical networking chips for AI clusters, raised $900 million in funding, including a $700 million Series C round that valued the company at $5.51 billion. Investors include Atreides Management, Bain Capital Ventures, Meritech and Spark Capital, along with more than a dozen others. Lumilens chips replace copper interconnects with faster fiber-optic cabling, with applications in GPU processors for both scale-up and scale-out in data centers.
