HAWK, a digital signature algorithm designed to resist quantum computing attacks, has been withdrawn from consideration as a US post-quantum cryptography standard. The algorithm passed two evaluation rounds at NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) but was rejected in the third phase after a critical vulnerability was discovered. Anthropic's Mythos security model identified the flaw that made the algorithm unsuitable for standardization. The developer subsequently decided to formally withdraw the algorithm from the standardization process.
