British cloud infrastructure firm Nscale has purchased Anyscale, a software company specializing in workload optimization for artificial intelligence applications across distributed computing environments. The acquisition price reached $1.65 billion. Anyscale developed its platform on Ray, an open-source distributed programming framework created by its founding team. Following the emergence of large language models in 2022, the startup shifted focus to scaling services for model training, inference, data management, and orchestration tasks. The deal aligns with Nscale's vertical integration strategy, spanning energy infrastructure, data centers, and software orchestration layers. Nscale recently completed a $2 billion funding round valuing the company at $14.6 billion and has partnered with major players including Microsoft and British Telecom. Anyscale reported 70% sequential revenue growth and employed approximately 200 staff, all of whom will transition to Nscale while maintaining independent branding.
