OpenAI Introduces Computer History Feature for ChatGPT on macOS

OpenAI has introduced Computer History, an opt-in feature for ChatGPT's macOS desktop application that monitors user activity. The feature transforms user interactions into training data, allowing ChatGPT and Codex to learn work patterns and suggest automations. It can also resume tasks users have abandoned. The system builds a timeline of user actions that these AI tools can reference when responding to requests. Users maintain control over the feature, with options to exclude specific apps and websites, and to delete individual entries for granular privacy management. According to Ari Weinstein, a Product and Engineering manager at OpenAI, Computer History will automatically ignore content from private or incognito browsing sessions.
