OpenAI's enterprise revenue exceeds consumer revenue for the first time
OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar revealed to shareholders that the company's enterprise segment revenue now exceeds its consumer segment revenue, which is dominated by ChatGPT. While the revenue composition at the beginning of 2026 was approximately 60% consumer and 40% enterprise, significantly faster growth in the enterprise segment has altered that proportion. In July, while consumer revenue grew 20% month-over-month, enterprise revenue grew 32%—demonstrating a fundamental shift in the company's business composition. This development occurred much faster than previously projected by OpenAI, which expected both segments to reach parity only by the end of 2026. OpenAI's annualized revenue is on track to exceed $400 billion.
